Pacific Rim Never understood why some hated on this film at the time. Won its awards and accolades for good reason. Life of Pi Another must-see-in-3D film from Ang Lee. The separation of water drops on the glass and the dino looking thru it is uncanny. For a sample, check out the scene of the Tyrannosaurus attacking the car in the rain. It's a fantastic conversion that looks like it was natively shot in 3D. If you think conversion can't work well and things are going to look like cardboard cutouts, prepare to have your mind blown. Jurassic Park Steven Speilberg personally oversaw the conversion of this film to 3D. Another film that you truly haven't seen until you've seen it in 3D.
Hugo A slower film but Martin Scorsese makes full and creative use of 3D. It adds sooo much to the film as it plays with scale in creative ways, plus I liked the film in general. The Great Gatsby This absolutely takes advantage of stereoscopy in an artistic way.Īnt Man This is a must-watch in 3D imho. But I digress.ĭespicable Me 1 & 2 / Minions movie All have stellar 3D. I even used to do hand drawn stereoscopic art ala Salvadore Dali. Fwiw, stereoscopy is something of a hobby for me, having done stereoscopic photography, videography, and cgi for quite a long time now. These are recommended based mostly on the quality of the 3D, but there are actually some great films in the list, depending on your tastes.
